Dining Room Makeover
Since we moved into our house last April (2012), I have had so many ideas on what to do with each room. First I tackled our living room, because I figured it would be the most frequented area of the house. While it’s still not done, I am happy about the projects I’ve done, and the progress we have made on it. Next, I did some work on the kitchen, and finally it was time to tackle the dining room. Here it is when we moved in (back left)….. We found the perfect table, and up next was decorating. I had a couple different ideas about hanging things, making ...
DIY Chalkboard Serving Tray
Since we moved into our house last year, I have been looking for a nice serving tray that would be able to carry a ton of stuff back and forth from the kitchen to the dining room or outside to the patio. I looked high and low, but never found anything that really fit the bill. Then, one day I was browsing one of my favorite DIY blog, Shanty 2 Chic, and came across a genius do it yourself idea of making a serving tray, and having it be partly chalkboard so you can label whatever is on it, if needed. I had to make it! I literally ran out to Home Depot the same day, and picked ...
Kid’s Activity: Handprint Christmas Trees
Keeping in the spirit of the holidays, if you are looking for a fun and easy holiday activity to do with the kids, this one is great. I made these last year with the twins I nanny, and they had a lot of fun. This was probably one of the first handprint activities we attempted, so it is a little messy, but they are sure pro's now! If you do a quick search on pinterest for "Handprint (insert holiday there)" you will find 100's of really fun ideas. All you need for this is finger paint, paper or canvas (we used thicker paper for painting), glitter paint ...
DIY Growth Chart Ruler
A growth chart ruler?!?! I was so excited when I saw this creative idea on pinterest (follow me for other great ideas)! This way, we can move the ruler whenever we want, take it with us if we ever move, and have a cool memory keepsake of Austin growing up. Since he isn't even two yet, I thought this was the perfect time to make this (and maybe I will go back and mark his old heights from milestone doctor appointments...). I followed the instructions on That Village House, and this was pretty simple to make. Apparently the people over at That Village House got the idea from 517 Creations, ...
Lowes Coupon: $10 off a $10 Purchase!
Lately I have been doing a lot of DIY projects and even though I am doing it myself, the costs for supplies can add up. Although I shop at Home Depot 99% of the time, the paint color I wanted for my current project is only sold at Lowes. I remembered when I moved that they sent me a coupon in the mail (from filling out a change of address form with the USPS), but it was already expired. So I did a quick search to see if there are any printable coupons, and didn't have any luck. Then I found out that if you sign up for 'My Lowes', much like a Kroger Card or frequent member card, you ...
