A couple years ago I was wondering around in Whole Foods, and I stumbled across their greeting card section. It was a very small rack, but it had the best cards. Most were fronted with an inspirational quote, or a really meaningful message, and I wanted to buy all of them. I didn’t though. Instead I snapped a couple pictures on my phone of the ones I really liked, and figured I’d look them up later. Flash forward a few years, and I was clearing the old photos off my cell phone before I turned it in for my new phone upgrade. I put all those old photos in a folder ...

DIY Vertical Garden
For the longest time I have wanted to start my own garden. Growing up in Michigan, my dad had a small garden in the backyard. He would grow horseradish, which took over a huge area, zucchini's, onions, and tomatoes (and I might be forgetting some other things). I remember having tomato 'fights' when my cousins would come to visit, and we would all wind up stained with tomato juice.....and my dad would be wondering where all his cherry tomatoes went...oops! When I lived in California, I was able to help with the family garden which was awesome. It was more of a ...

I thought I would share with you some of the cute things ...
A Christmas Mantle Collection
Over the weekend, we went as a family to find and cut down our first family Christmas tree (we had a fake one last year)! It is so exciting, and although the tree is still in the garage (hopefully we can put it up tonight after my husband gets home from work), I am already thinking how we should decorate it. Another task that has been heavy on my mind, is our mantle. I am stoked that we have a real fireplace and mantle now, and I have been brainstorming how I should decorate it. Of course, whenever such a decision needs to be made, I turn to pinterest. I have a ...

DIY: How to Make Your Own Custom Canvas
When I found some super cheap grey chevron fabric at Hobby Lobby ($4 for a yard!) I decided I had to buy it...even though I had no idea what I would use it for. I knew something would come up, and the fabric was really great quality duck cloth, so I knew it would hold up well for any project. Then, when I was cleaning out the garage a few days later, I noticed I had tons of thin scrap pieces of wood, and it clicked that I could easily make my own canvas borders, and then use the fabric to cover it...perfect! This was a super easy DIY project, and super cheap too. Essentially less than $4 ...
