Hey y’all! My name is Allyson and I am the woman behind Domestic Superhero. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved creating and making things. It wasn’t until college though, that I found my passion for cooking and developing new recipes! Throughout my 4 years of college, I worked as a nanny for a family of 4, and I had to make the dinner every night! It was crazy, because up until that point I only knew how to make one dish, Chicken Parmesan. So I started recording Rachel Ray and other various cooking shows, because a 30 minute meal sounded very appealing…especially since I was busy taking care of kids and cooking at the same time.
I learned how to effectively chop garlic, use diced tomatoes a million and one ways, and so many other tricks and tips. I slowly built up an understanding of how ingredients come together, and how to make the best dish possible with what you have available. I also started hosting dinner parties all the time, to get my friends together and also have the chance to do some ‘fancy’ cooking. I loved everything about cooking and having great company! Once I graduated from Berkeley I headed to the East Coast for work, and continued cooking all the time…
Then I met my husband in New York a few years later and we decided to continue this crazy life journey in Atlanta!
Flash forward several years and I’m now in my early 30’s (ahhh, when did that happen?!), and I am married to my best friend, Andres, and I have 2 amazing boys, Austin and Everett.
Austin is 5 years old and a BIG handful, and Everett is 2 and gets into everything! They are my best DIY projects to date 🙂
Domestic Superhero is my blog. It’s a place where share various recipes, DIY Projects, crafts, decor, inspirations, and the realities that fill my life. This blog features things I’ve found and usually love, but may feature some imperfect projects as well. Most things are frugal and budget friendly, as I love saving money. I love sharing things and inspiring people to take action, too! We are vegetarians, so I do feature a lot of meat-free recipes, but I do dabble in meat friendly recipes as well (for work). I love being crafty, but unfortunately lack time so most of the stuff you see here will be food related (however, keep an eye out for the random DIY project!).
I love hearing from y’all so please feel free to contact me! If you are interested in working with me, please contact me for more information! I have worked with brands such as Kraft, BlendTec, Jimmy Dean, Keebler, Graco, Nabisco, Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, Pixar, Disney, MARS, Hefty, Iowa Corn, Red Gold, Tyson, Barilla, Miracle-Gro, Jose Quervo, Lifeway Foods, Unilever, Del Monte, Dole, Hunts, Tuttorosso, Uncle Ben, Dannon, California Pizza Kitchen, Smuckers, Fre-Wine, Parent’s Choice, T-Mobile, Reckitt Benckiser, Hain Celestial, Skinny Girl, Marie Callender, Munchkin, Success Rice (Raviana), Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Handmade Charlotte, Rubbermaid, Church & Dwight (Orajel), Southern Breeze Sweet Tea, VIVA, Puffs, International Delight and so many more.
I have also been featured several times on Yahoo!, Buzzfeed, MSN, Country Living, Redbook, Parent’s Magazine, Kiwi Magazine, Square Rooms Magazine, Bob Vila, Women’s Health Magazine and website, and many more.

That’s my beautiful and talented niece y’all are enjoying. I never would have guessed she would be sooo talented though I should have. Allyson and her brother were into so many creative things like dance and karate and they have a mother who is also very talented. I’m so very proud of her and have to admit I had absolutely nothing to do with her becoming such a talented and beautiful woman. Best of luck and best wishes from your Auntie Rachel and Uncle Bill :*
